Successful webinar “SPSS for beginners – working with SHARE Corona and basic statistical methods of analysis”

Research Infrastructure SHARE ERIC Bulgaria traditionally conducts specialized webinars, targeted at students, PhD students and scientists, for research based on Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The main goal of this unique academic “SHARE ERIC Bulgaria” is to increase the capacity to work with panel data, to motivate scholars, students and PhD students to use SHARE in their research and to increase the competitiveness of Bulgarian SHARE based scientific publications. An obligatory condition for participation in the webinars is registration for individual access to the data from SHARE, as well as access to the software product SPSS.
For the third time in a row, on November 2 and 4, 2021, we successfully conducted a specialized webinar “SPSS for beginners – working with data files from SHARE Corona and basic statistical methods of analysis.” The lecturer of the seminar is Assoc. Prof. Ekaterina Tosheva from the Department of Statistics and Econometrics, UNWE and the Institute for Educational Research, who has long experience, in-depth scientific interests and scientific publications on panel data from SHARE. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gabriela Yordanova and Ch. Assistant Professor Dr. Ekaterina Markova provided additional information about SHARE and SHARE Corona.
The webinar was attended by experts, PhD students and researchers from various universities and research organizations in Bulgaria, two thirds of whom had no previous experience with SPSS and SHARE. At the end of the webinar, participants received a short online evaluation questionnaire and provided feedback. The results will be carefully analyzed and used to improve this training activity in the future. Here is one of the recommendations:
“The webinar was conducted extremely professionally and at a very high level. The lecturer taught methodically, accessible and competently, providing the opportunity for independent work and asking questions. My recommendation is to be able to provide the teaching materials in advance so that we can be a little more prepared for the practical classes. ”
The webinar is possible thanks to a project under the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures (2017-2023) – Consortium SHARE ERIC Bulgaria for Scientific Infrastructure for Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe / SHARE (Agreement № D01-380 /) 18.12.2020 between the Ministry of Education and Science and IFS-BAS).
